Middle Tennessee Electric members reelect incumbents to board

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation members reelected three incumbents to their board of directors? seats during the cooperative?s annual meeting Saturday at Embassy Suites Murfreesboro - Hotel and Conference Center. 

Incumbents Gloria O?Steen of Williamson County (District 1C), Mike Woods of Rutherford County (District 2A), and Charlie Bowman of Cannon County (District 3) won reelection to their seats. This year's candidates were confirmed by a voice vote from the membership during the business meeting. 

Middle Tennessee Electric crews head south for hurricane relief

Three, four-man crews from Middle Tennessee Electric are on their way to Florida to join efforts to restore power in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. 

The workers and nine trucks will depart from the electric cooperative's Murfreesboro office at 6 a.m. Friday; their destination is Keystone Heights, Fla., where they'll be assisting Clay Electric Cooperative in restoration efforts. 

Middle Tennessee Electric crews returning from Florida

The 13 men (three, four-man crews and a mobile mechanic) from Middle Tennessee Electric are scheduled to return late Tuesday night after working for a week with Clay Electric Cooperative in Keystone Heights, Fl. 

Throughout the last week, the team has been assisting with power restoration efforts, clearing trees from downed lines, repairing broken poles and stringing new lines.

900 Words Can Change Everything 

Each summer, Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation sends 15 high school Juniors to spend a week exploring Washington, D.C., learning about government and cooperatives and developing their leadership skills. This opportunity is made possible thanks to a strong partnership with area high schools and English teachers. 

MTEMC cuts the ribbon on Cooperative Solar Project

Middle Tennessee Electric cut the ribbon on a Cooperative Solar project today. The one-megawatt solar array is the first of its kind for the cooperative. 

"This is a big day for Middle Tennessee Electric and its members," said MTEMC President Chris Jones. "It is our goal to be the solar leader among electric companies in the Tennessee Valley. Last year, working with our members, we connected more solar generation than any other power distributor across the 7 states of the Tennessee Valley." 

Kymari House receives $3,000 grant from MTE SharingChange

Middle Tennessee Electric's SharingChange has donated $3,000 of its funds to Kymari House. 

"At Kymari House, we believe there is nothing more precious than family, and no one more important than children." says Tonya Hobbs, Executive Director and Co-founder of Kymari House. "Your donation through SharingChange helps us put that philosophy to work for our community's most vulnerable, and for that, we cannot thank you enough." 

MTEMC to Award 10 Scholarships in 2017

Middle Tennessee Electric's SharingChange program will fund 10 - $2,000 scholarships for students in the cooperative's service area again this year. 

"We're excited about the success of this program and look forward to seeing these funds put towards such a deserving cause again this year," MTE SharingChange Board Chairman Doretha Wright said."The scholarship program enhances the education outreach of our SharingChange program."
