MTEMC withdraws offer to purchase MED

Middle Tennessee Electric?s Board of Directors formally withdrew its bid to purchase the Murfreesboro Electric Department, Thursday. 

"We took this step to further clarify Murfreesboro City Council's recent action on the proposed purchase, and in light of our great respect for the employees, staff and board of the Murfreesboro Electric Department," said MTEMC President and CEO Chris Jones. 

"The cooperative," Jones added, "is honored the city gave consideration to the idea of bringing two great utilities together and looks forward to a future of working with the city and MED." 

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperative providing electricity to more than 210,000 residential and business members in Williamson, Wilson, Rutherford and Cannon counties.
